Deer Tracks;  Sculpture

by Stephen Herrero
The Deer (Odocoileus) White-tailed deer are predominately found east of the Rocky Mountains while mule deer are indigenous to western North America. The most noticeable differences between whitetails and mule deer are the size of their ears, color of their tails, and configuration of their antlers. The mule deer tail is black-tipped, whereas the whitetails is not. Mule deer antlers are bifurcated or they fork, as they grow, rather than branching from a single main beam as the whitetails. Although both are good runners, the mule deer often prefer to bound with a stiff-leg gait. For both species, each spring a bucks antlers start to re-grow almost immediately after the old antlers are shed. Cold cast and realistically hand-painted. Tabletop or wall presentation. Includes educational facts on each animal. 4-3/4"H x 4-1/2"W x 1"D.
