Wolf Tracks;  Sculpture

by Stephen Herrero
The Wolf (Canis lupus) is the largest wild canine in North America. Gray wolves are slender, powerfully built animals; their heads are large and heavy, with wide foreheads, strong jaws and long and blunt muzzles. The ears are relatively small and triangular and the limbs are long and robust, with comparatively small paws. Despite its name, the gray wolfs coat color ranges from almost pure white to black. Wolves communicate over long distances by howling. Wolf tracks, like those of all canids, show four toes on each foot with claw marks present. Wolf tracks are robust, often measuring 4-1/4 to 4-3/4 inches long. The stride of a wolf can be 26 to 30 inches and can run 30 to 35 mph. At top running speed, the distance between groups of tracks can be six to eight feet. Cold cast and realistically hand-painted. Tabletop or wall presentation. Includes educational facts on each animal. 6"H x 5-1/2"W x 1"D.
