Perched on top of the mooring post for our old row boat the Belted Kingfisher is preening its feathers. Normally it sits in this spot to watch for potential prey in the pond below, but every now and then it’s time to remove debris and parasites from the feathers and make sure everything is in great shape for the next dive.
