Typically the Eastern bluebird eats seeds and fruits but fledglings need a little more protein in their diet. So this time of the year you will see the bluebird hunting for insects and worms. Perched on top of a post they scour the area for anything that moves. They’ll fly down to grab it or even catch insects mid-air. They’re quite acrobatic! Having this many beaks to feed puts a lot of pressure on the parents!
