That Special Time

That Special Time

About This Artwork

For Terry Redlin, this painting holds warm memories of childhood when an uncle would take him fishing to many new and, to his young eyes, exotic places. This romantic rending is a composite of all those long ago fishing excursions. The older touring car and sporty roadster with rumble seat dates the scene as sometime in the 1930’s. The Sunnyside Inn was an actual resort near the artist’s hometown in eastern South Dakota. The time is early evening, the mallards are coming in, and our fishing party is the first one off the lake. They have disappeared inside, probably for a bite to eat.
