Savanah Family
About This Artwork
The theme of motherhood has guided my painting on several occasions. The loving relationships apparent in the animal kingdom particularly touch my heart and speak equally to my wishes for humankind. To date, I have used bears, wolves, and eagles to explore this interest, and this is to name only just a few. In Savanah Family, I try and capture these themes and feelings again, this time in a family of giraffes. A loving mother stretches her long neck toward her young family, offering them access to the sweet foliage hidden in the tops of nearby trees. The youngsters, in return, stretch their necks up to receive this gift and savor the affection apparent in their mother’s effort spent. The sun sets in the distance suggesting sleep is nearing and for this family, all is right in their world. I wish you all that sense of familial love in your life and hope you can feel it translated through my brush and canvas. Finally, and as always, I want to thank you for sharing my adventures in art.
