This piece was interesting because the deer in this photo comes from my fiance's game camera on our family farm. Ultimately he had a chance at this big guy, but spooked him when he fell off his chair. So, I told him "If you can't have a mount of Him then I'll just paint him to remind you how you missed. But, now he's on our wall!" I also interestingly wanted to pursue texture and used a metallic paint so when you move around it, it looks like the deer is wet from snowfall, and there's bits of tiny beads in the paint that add texture to the painting's touch.
