The Northern cardinal has been a busy bird this spring. His impressive song has been a constant reminder of his presence around the house for several months now. The male, dressed in a beautiful bright red coat and festive crest, is inspecting the nestlings that hatched about a week ago. This is their first brood of the year, a second is likely and some cardinals even have three every year!
