It is an unmistakable color blue…or indigo. Especially amongst all the bright yellow hues of the summer prairie the male Indigo bunting stands out. The female Indigo bunting is much better at hiding, she is a more modest brown color. Hunting for insects, seeds, berries, spiders and caterpillars I understand why the prairie is such a popular habitat for them!
