Black Chinned Hummingbird with Foxglove & Delphinium
About This Artwork
Many of the colors in Nature are iridescent, like the blue-violet of delphiniums and the rich purple of the Black-chinned Hummer’s gorget. As the tiny bird darts among the flowers, it appears that his colors are constantly changing, from almost black to brilliant blue. Perfect camouflage for feeding among flowers! --- A flash of life among my garden flowers, this little bird must find the nectar of delphinium blossoms to be especially sweet - he always visits those first.
