Anything Goes in the Herb Garden

About This Artwork

When we designed the herb garden twenty years ago I was very strict about what we grew there, if it wasn't an herb it wasn't getting in. But after a few years I became a bit more tolerant. After all, wouldn't it be great to have green beans as well? And grow our own potatoes? A few more years have passed and by now all bets are off. There are still some herbs left, but now there are some beautiful peonies right next to the chives. The foxglove has spread from the garden, but I don't mind. Sunflowers next to the rosemary, columbines blooming next to the gooseberries, you get the idea. Just like the poppies that seem to appear everywhere I just grow and plant as I please, it is the perfect garden!
