Lee Kromschroeder is one of the most easily recognized and respected artists in the wildlife artwork genre. Growing up in Southern California, he has been painting since a very young age, fascinated by the natural world around him. Whenever possible, he gathers his own reference material for his artwork in the form of photographs and field sketches, even if that means traveling to the other side of the world.

His subject matter typically focuses on large, impressive animals such as big cats and other large wildlife from Africa, whales, and North American big game. His style is often described as photo-realistic, an effect he achieves through dramatic lighting, meticulously correct anatomical detail, and carefully rendered backgrounds. His medium of choice for his artwork is most often oil or acrylic.

Kromschroeder has won numerous awards throughout his art career, including repeated Artist of the Year titles, and is often honored as a Featured Artist at wildlife and nature art shows. Of his art philosophy, he says, "What I like to do is create a total environment for the animal. I feel everything in a painting is equally as important as the subject."
