Tom Antonishak grew up in the mountains of Pennsylvania, and he credits being an Eagle Scout for teaching him his strong respect and appreciation for nature. Before deciding to pursue art, he served with the U.S. Navy, worked with the DIA, then moved with his wife Carol to Pittsburgh, where he earned a B.A. in graphic design from the Art Institute of Pittsburgh. After working as a courtroom sketch artist, news artist, and illustrator, he began his own commercial art studio in 1981.

Tom Antonishak is known for his incredible pieces of artwork depicting various subjects from the natural world, including birds of prey, wolves, dogs, and animals found in the American West. He uses his canvases to combine the elegance and wildness of nature with the spirit of history. Rendering his pieces with extremely realistic detail, he is especially skilled at enhancing the intensity of viewer-subject connection.

One of Antonishak's paintings was selected for the Arts for the Parks traveling exhibit, and was displayed at the Smithsonian Institute as well as the Mount Rushmore National Memorial. He has also earned other prestigious honors as a wildlife artist, including the New York Duck Stamp and the 1993 Ducks Unlimited Guest Artist title, and one of his pieces was selected for the Birds in Art international wildlife exhibit.
