Dustin Van Wechel grew up experiencing the scenery and wildlife of the Arizona desert. After working corporately for 8 years in advertising, he decided he wanted to dedicate his time to representing the natural world he loved with fine artwork. Beginning to painting professionally in 2002, he and his wife moved into a renovated school house in Nebraska, where he lived and painted until they relocated to his current location, Colorado.

Dustin Van Wechel's artwork typically centers on the western and mountain wildlife and landscapes he has enjoyed experiencing his whole life. He uses a strong palate and color contrast to create a unique sense of lighting and distance, which gives life to his subjects and emphasizes the depth of field in his works.

Van Wechel's artwork has received numerous recognitions and honors throughout his successful career, including the 2006 Teton Lodge Company Award at Arts for the Parks and the Bob Kuhn Award for Wildlife at Masters of the American West Show in 2015. He has also been published in several prestigious art publications, as well as featured in many distinguishing shows, both as an individual artist and as part of various exhibitions and galleries, including the National Museum of Wildlife Art.
