Wild Wings Fall Fesitval

Wild Wings sets the date for its 36th Fall Festival Wildlife Art Show & Sale
on Saturday & Sunday, October 2 & 3, 2010.

Approximately 30 wildlife artists from across the country and Canada will be present to showcase their latest original artwork in St. Mary’s of the Lake Center in downtown Lake City. Wild Wings’ Fall Festival celebrates the rich beauty and diversity of the great outdoors and annually draws thousands of people from across the United States.

FESTIVAL HOURS:
10am - 4pm on Saturday, October 2, 2010
11am - 4pm on Sunday, October 3, 2010

For the past few years, Wild Wings has partnered with the Lake City Chamber of Commerce moving the Fall Festival date to coincide with the community’s fall apple harvest festival, Johnny Appleseed Days. Wild Wings has moved all Festival events into the downtown area. The original artwork will be available for public viewing in the center at St. Mary’s of the Lake Catholic Church at 419 West Lyon Avenue. Stop by the art showroom to pick up exclusive coupons to receive great discounts from Lake City businesses who sponsored the Fall Festival.

Other events will be held outdoors on the lawn outside the church. Representatives from the National Eagle Center will allow visitors to learn more about eagles. Artists will hold demonstrations sharing their talents in painting and carving. The Chamber of Commerce hosts other Johnny Appleseed Festival events in Patton Park, one block from the church, such as a Farmer’s Market and Kids Petting Zoo.

A popular tradition at the Fall Festival has been the distribution and signing of free, commemorative show posters. This year, Wild Wings is introducing a fun, new collection of trading cards highlighting attending wildlife artists (much like baseball trading cards). The cards will be available near each artist’s section of the art show. Guests can browse through the art show, picking up trading cards and getting autographs from the artists. Quantities are limited and are distributed on a first-come, first-served basis so be sure to arrive early for best selection. Wild Wings can assemble and frame your trading cards in an attractive montage at an affordable price. Be sure to ask us for details.

Framed Duck Migration Maps Ducks Unlimited Releases Milestone Waterfowl Migration Maps

David A. Maass

David A. Maass

Wildlife Artist

Lake City, MN—Wild Wings artist David A. Maass and former Ducks Unlimited Chief Biologist, Dr. Bruce Batt, PhD, both internationally acclaimed in their fields, have combined their knowledge and skill to produce a striking set of waterfowl migration maps of North America. The signed and numbered edition of 5,000 will be sold at Ducks Unlimited fundraising events throughout 2009-2010. The map set is an updated and reworked version of the landmark edition produced by artist Richard Bishop with Joseph Mims in the mid-1930s. Just as important, the new version shows current survey information for ducks and geese, some of which has changed over the last 70 years, according to Batt.

“For the first time,” noted Maass, “I have been afforded the opportunity to paint every species of waterfowl that is native to North America. Working on this challenging project with the renowned biologist, Dr. Bruce Batt, has been one of the highlights of my career.”

The two-map set features all of the currently known waterfowl in North America. They are entitled Surface Feeding Ducks, Swans and Geese of North America and Diving and Sea Ducks of North America. The strikingly beautiful maps are signed by both Maass and Batt and feature Maass’ incomparable waterfowl art as well as knowledgeable descriptive narrative by Dr. Batt.

Framed maps may be purchased singly or as a set at the popular Ducks Unlimited banquet auctions. If interested, contact your Ducks Unlimited chapter to make sure the map set will be offered or visit the Ducks Unlimited
web site, ducks.org, to find a banquet scheduled in your area.
